8 February

This week's newsletter is in a slightly different format, highlighting events going on and providing some useful tips and links to assist you in business. Towards the end we revert to our more standard format and next week Red Boots and the team will report on the comings and goings in the Industry.
We've received some comment on the recent International Airshow in Auckland and inparticular a need to ensure New Zealand remains a credible "airshow" destination. Taking on these types of events as one of our members did is a daunting challenge. We'd like to hear your views on how we can encourage more foreign visitors to come to our trade show. Afterall this is an integral part of our conference as we position the sector as a force in international  niche markets.

When John Nicholson was in Indonesia and Singapore last month, he
  • participated in a media conference in Jakarta. This has already resulted in one article, in Bahasa Indonesian in Kompas Gramedia. A copy is here. Further coverage is expected.
  • ran a seminar at the Association of Aerospace Industries (Singapore), with NZTE, on the New Zealand Aviation Industry. This was well attended. Considerable surprise was expressed at the strength, competence and diversity of the New Zealand industry.
The "boots" also attended the Airways charging meeting in Auckland yesterday. A very comprehensive consultation document is available read more. Airways have agreed to further dialogue with us as we work through a number of questions/observations we have. Like our approach with CAA we have assured Airways that the dialogue will be constructive and solution orientated.

We have nothing further to report on CAA charges this week but we are keeping the pressure on.

Aviation is in our DNA
